A Break

In case you have a TON of blogs that you follow (like I do) and you haven't noticed that it's been a while since I posted on this blog, there is a reason.

My husband is sick. He's been sick for a long time. He's had 5 heart surgeries in the past 2 years, 4 of them in the past year. None of them have helped him. We are being referred to the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota. The whole story is on our new blog, Sending Stewart to The Mayo Clinic. We don't have the means to get out to Minnesota, so we are asking for your help. Any type of donation will help. We hate to ask for help, but we really need it right now.

We are going to have a dinner and auction on July 31, here in Smithfield, UT. Here is the flyer:

We are also doing a neighborhood garage sale on August 7. When we figure out a time and place, I will let you all know.

I am going to try to do an on-line auction with the help of all my crafty blogger friends. Any way that you can help us is appreciated. Even if it's passing on the link to our nw blog! Please grab a button and post it on your blog.

If you'd like to donate money, we have paypal set up on the blog as well!

Thank you to everyone. Thank you for giving us a chance to live a normal life. Thank you.

We need your help!

So, I'm not the type of person to ask for help, especially like this... BUT... Extreme situations call for EXTREME measures!

This month has been crazy hectic for us. Here is a break down for you!

ME
  • I have been having A LOT of stomach issues. I had a CT scan about a month ago, and they didn't find anything. Then about a week ago, I had an ultrasound, and everything looked fine. I am scheduled to have an Endoscopy next Thursday. Then, if that comes back fine, I go into my OB/GYN on the 2nd of Aug. for a pre-op appointment and have a Laproscopy for possible Endometriosis on Aug 4th.
  • My pain is so bad that I can't pick the kids up, I don't sleep, and I'm in terrible pain all of the time. I've lost A TON of weight too!
HAYDEN
  • We took Hayden to his 2 Year Well Child Check, and they had to freeze some sores that were on his tummy and left arm off.
  • They sent us to an Orthopedic Dr because his right wrist dislocates really easily. We went there today, and he now has a cast on his arm, with his palm facing up, and his elbow bent at a 90 degree angle. He keeps that on for 3 weeks.
At least he likes it!

  • On Friday, we are taking him to Primary Children's Hospital to see if he needs surgery for a hernia he has on his tummy. It was supposed to go away on it's own, but since it hasn't yet, he might need surgery to fix it.
  • He weighs 31.5 lbs and is 35 1/2 inches tall!

KEAGAN
  • He's doing fine. Starting to teeth, and won't sleep much, but he's at least HEALTHY!!!

STEWART
  • His surgery didn't work.
  • He's not better.
  • He's not passing out as often, but he's out A LOT longer when he goes out now.
  • There is nothing else that the doctors here in Utah can do for him.
  • He is being sent to the Mayo Clinic is Minnesota.
  • They have doctor's that specialize in more specific things than we do here.
Now, we can choose to have Stewart live with all of this, or we can go to Minnesota and try ONE more time to get him fixed. The problems that we are facing are these:

  • Our insurance ends this month (most likely. We send the check every month and cross our fingers that it gets cashed!)
  • COBRA the insurance we can get after ours ends is more a month than we make.
  • The hospital is Out-Of-Network on our insurance anyway.
  • To fly out to the hospital, and stay there just a week, is over $1,500.
  • We'll have to come up with over $6,000 to just pay for one trip out there. If it takes more than one trip, it will cost more.
  • We don't have that kind of money, especially since Stewart only gets disability checks, and I am just starting work.

I'm not asking for hand-outs. I'm asking for ideas, or items donated, so we can hold a silent auction, and on-line auction, or something to raise money with. We have to come up with the money fast so that we can get out there.

I'm sorry to put all of this on here. I really hate to. I just don't know what else to do. I NEED my husband to get better! We really can't live like this.

Thank you for reading this, and for all of your support!

Carseat Cover!

Here are pictures of ny carseat cover. I posted them on my blogswap, but I'm posting them here too!

They are for sale! Only $35 +shipping for single sided and only $40 +shipping for reversible! Both are nursing covers (unless requested otherwise) and made to your color specifications. They are also the perfect size to drape over a stroller to protect your little one from the sun, wind, rain, and snow! I'm adding a new feature too! They will all have a pocket on them for easy storage for diapers, wet wipes, cell phones or anything else you may need on the go!

The straps are made of the fabric on either side, and coordinating buttons are used.
(Cute baby not included!)

Straps inside are perfect for hanging toys from to entertain your little one!

I had the flu when this was taken. But notice how long the cover is? SO nice! You don't have to worry about baby pulling it over and people seeing things you're trying to hide!

I'm excited to fill your orders! Just comment or e-mail me with the details!

Keep Blogging?

So, I'm trying to decide if I should keep this blog up or not.

In person I seem like a very confident person, but I don't have the best self-confidence. I really care about what people think. I shouldn't. I know that. Stewart tells me all the time. I can't help it. Because I care so much, it's really hard for me to put things that I make up and out for everyone to see. I want everyone to like what I make, I know that isn't possible, but I still really want everyone to like it. The project I put on my blog swap was something that I thought up. I didn't know if there were others like it. I had seen a few different kinds, but I made it my own. I adapted it, and added to it. I made it something that I really can't do without. I use it everyday, and it makes my life easier. I was told by someone that I had copied it. That it wasn't original and that other people have the same thing.

It is likely that someone else has thought up something similar, and that they have made one. I didn't copy them. I'm sorry if I offended anyone with my carseat cover/nursing cover. I was just trying to make something to help benefit my family.

So the decision is up to you people... Should I keep the blog? Or not?

Swapping Blogs!

Hi, Everyone! Today I'm swapping blogs with Amanda from "Every Crafty Endeavor"! I'm showing a new really cute baby item! Head on over to her blog and check it out!

Hello Stout Made Craft Readers! I am excited to be here today posting a little something on Ciera's fun little blog! I know she is new to blogging so it is fun to be here and help her out a little bit!
My name is Amanda and I am the creative mind behind “Every Crafty Endeavor.” I am married to a dashingly handsome, hard-working man named Spencer and we have a little boy named Quinn! I work part time as a writer on a marketing team for an Engineering Company and craft in my “spare time.” I have been a “mommy blogger” for a couple years – and started Every Crafty Endeavor to showcase some crafty ideas that I have made.
Sometimes I come up with ideas on my own and sometimes I see ideas that I love and copy - always giving credit of course! That is what I love about blogging - everyone shares ideas and our homes and babies and lives are much cuter! I love to craft and cook and I have lots of fun ideas and tutorials that I love to share. I am constantly thinking about things to cook, make or sew, accessories that pop, ways to decorate my home and things to photograph.
Since the Forth of July is right around the corner I thought it would be fun to showcase a couple of Patriotic projects I have been working on!
First is my Fabric Fourth of July Wreath
And second is my ribbon Fourth of July Wreath!
On Friday, I am going to be guest posting another fun Fourth of July idea so make sure you stop by Every Crafty Endeavor and check it out! Thanks so much for having me today and I wish you luck with your cute new blog!

How To Make An Easter Egg Wreath

My husband was so excited about the way our last wreath turned out, that he decided to make an Easter Egg shaped one. We did this one a little differently though.

You'll need about 3 feet of wire, the same amount of pipe insulator, and some electrical tape. You'll also need about 3 spools of ribbon. I used double sided ribbon, so that I only needed 3, but it was really like 6 colors. You'll also need a glue gun with plenty of glue! Sorry I don't have a picture of the things you need, but I'm sure you understand everything so far!

Bend your wire into the shape of an egg, and tape the ends together so that it stays that shape.

Next, wrap your pipe insulator around the wire, and tape around the whole thing.

This is where I did something different. Instead of tying material around the wire, I used the ribbon. I hot glued the top corner of one side, pulled it tight across the egg and hot glued the other top corner. Then after it had dried, I pulled it tight and glued the bottom two corners. I started at the top of the egg and worked my way down.

When I was done, I used some of the extra ribbon to hide the sides where my ribbon was glued. I cut the ribbon in half and put the nice side towards the front so that it looks nicer. If you don't want to do this, just wrap your ribbon farther around the egg. That way, you'll just see the ribbon going down the side, instead of black. I cut a few of my strips to short, that's why I had to do this.

I had some trouble keeping the egg shape, so after I had wrapped my ribbon all around the edges and everything, we took an old wire hanger and cut it into strips to keep the ribbon tight and keep the egg shape.

And there ya go! Not near as time consuming as the clover, but still really cute!

Monkey Shoes!

Here is another pair of slippers that I made. I made some for my son too, and he LOVES them! He won't let me take them off! He has HUGE feet, but I was able to make a pattern for him, so most sizes can be ordered! Just leave me a comment!

Growing Up!

My baby boy is growing up! It's fun, but sad at the same time. Lately, he loves following us into the bathroom. While we're going to the bathroom... Yes. I know. Weird.

Anyway, he likes to go in with us and "talk" to us. It's really funny actually. Well, we're in the process of re-painting our downstairs bathroom. Stewart got some cool colored paint that was a mistint for SUPER cheap, so we started painting and just haven't gotten around to finish it yet. We've had the can of paint just sitting in the bathroom to remind us to finish (it hasn't really helped, but maybe one day it'll get us to kick into gear!) It sits next to the toilet, in the corner of the room. Hayden has started to sit on the can of paint while we're in the bathroom, and then wanting to wash his hands with us when we're done. It's cute. I've been wanting to get a picture of it, but I still haven't downloaded all of my pictures off of my camera, (I'm horrible, I know). I decided today that I was going to get a picture of him on my phone and even though it is just a 2.0 Mega Pixel camera, I'm going to post a picture. (That's all I've been doing for my craft pictures too. I really need to download my camera though!)

So, here's my little man pretending to go to the bathroom! (Don't worry, no one else is in the picture! I had to bribe him to get him to sit on the can without one of us on the toilet!)

So cute, huh?

And this one I just thought was cute. See his adorable hair? It's super long, but so curly!

Anyway, enjoy the pictures! Sorry they're such poor quality!

How To Make a Clover Shaped Wreath

I decided that I would put a cool tutorial up here for you all. This is something that I came up with the idea, and my WONDERFUL hubby made it happen for me! So without further ado.... How To Make a Clover Shaped Wreath!

What you'll need:

Just over 1 yard total of matching fabric. (I used 3 different fabrics and needed just over 1/3 a yard of each.) Sissors, electrical tape.

A picture of a clover that you like, so you can imitate it.

About 6 1/2 feet of 40 gauge wire. (We used copper wire)

Plumbing pipe cover. Cut it in half long ways.

Start by bending your wire to the shape of clover you like. (This is where my amazing husband came in! He did that and the next step for me!)

Then wrap your wire clover with the plumbing pipe you cut in half and cover it with electrical tape. It will look like this when you're almost done:

My husband did that part too. I held the wire apart a little bit for him, so that we could get the tape everywhere. At the end of the stem we wrapped each wire individually then wrapped tape around them both so that it was thicker than the rest of the clover.

It should look something like this when you're done wrapping it.

I had my local material store cut my material at 1/3 yard each, and then ripped them into 1" wide strips. They were really long, so we cut each piece in half length wise. It made them about 6-7" long each. I got almost done with mine and ran out of material (so upsetting!) and had to go get some more, unfortunately where I went would only cut the material at 1/8, 1/4, or 1/3 lengths, so I had them cut it at 1/4. I then measured a length of one of my original pieces and cut the new ones to be the same length.

Then, I just tied each piece onto my clover form, for the stem, I faced the ties out toward the front, and for the rest, I faced the ties out towards the edges, so that the inside was smooth and you can see all of the curves of the leaves.

And the end product?

Yay! Super cute and original! I'm putting a piece of material on the back of one of the leaves as a hook to hang it from. I'm way excited about it! If you want one, just let me know, and I'll totally make one for you! It took a long time to make, but I think it was worth it!

Slippers/Baby Shoes

UPDATE: I've decided on a price! $8 per pair plus shipping. I think that is a good price, just let me know if you're interested!

I know I've seen pictures of these floating around the blogosphere, but I've decided to make some too! Yay!

I'm really proud of them, and think that they are really cute. I've made 3 pairs (the 3 you see above), and I've used different material everytime. So, they are really versitle. I'm figuring out a price still, but I'm totally taking orders! Just leave me a comment with your e-mail address, and I'll contact you to find out what size, colors, material, etc you want. I'll update this post too as soon as I figure out what a good price is for them too!

Thanks! I'm looking forward to hearing from some of you! (hopefully!)

Pictures

I keep getting asked when pictures are going to be up on here. And they will be soon. I promise. I'm just trying to retrieve pictures off of my memory card that I accidentally erased, so I don't want to take more pictures with it until I can get my old ones off of it! Does that make sense? I hope so.

Anyway, I'm working on an AWESOME project, that will hopefully have all of you as excited about it as I am (even my hubby is excited about this one!). So, I'm going to try to get the kinks worked out of it and then hopefully I'll be able to get somethings up here for you all!

Thanks for being patient with me and checking back here like you do! I'm going to try to do some giveaways and stuff as soon as I get more followers, so tell your friends about my site, and hopefully they will happen sooner than later!

Whew!

I kind of fell behind on keeping this blog up, didn't I? Huh, good sign for the future, since I totally just started it! I'm working on a diaper bag right now. I've really got to find a niche. You know? Like who am I trying to sell to? I'm thinking Mom's, hence the diaper bag and the house stuff... Any ideas on who needs stuff that's unique, but just doesn't have the time to make it?

Calendar!

I made an awesome calendar! I'm so excited! It's really cute and I just can't wait to show it to you all! I also made a shoulder bag, but I'm going to change it some so that it is more versatile and will last longer. Anyway, I'm trying to get a few things ready before I make the big debut on here of my different stuff. Hopefully the things I make are things you'll like!

One down, a TON to go!

Last night, I made my first craft. I'm so excited! It's a white board, but not made out of a white board. I'll try to take a picture of it soon and get it up here, so that if you want one, you can order one. I can make it look like whatever you want. For boys you could do their favorite sports team, or anything  boy-ish. For a girl you can do ANYTHING!!! You can make it match your house or your room, or whatever you want. It's super cute and as soon as I figure out a price, I'll get it up here with the pic! Thanks again for reading!

Welcome!

Hello! I'm so glad you found my blog! Like I state in my header, I'm a stay-at-home Mom. I love being at home with my kids, but because I do, money is tight. I've been trying to think of ways that I can help out with the money flow at our house, so I've recently started using coupons and signing up for all the free samples I can get! I've also decided to set up this blog. I'm going to be making a bunch of different things and selling them to... YOU! They'll be cute and fun and useful. I love making things and naptime is the perfect time to do that. And what's wrong with making some money while I'm at it?

I hope I get a lot of followers and can soon start helping my family. Thanks for stopping by, make sure you do often, because I'm hoping to post something new everyday!
